We’ve been all reflective these past few weeks. Must be the time of year. Looking back at the highlights of 2014 and contemplating what we’ve got planned for 2015. As we flicked through the visitor books in our two cottages recently, the names brought back many happy memories and broad smiles appeared on our faces.
Thank you to those who’ve written comments in the cottage visitor books or filled in a feedback form at the end of a narrowboat holiday, or even taken the time to contact us when back at home, to pass on thoughts and suggestions. This feedback enables us to keep in touch with what our guests really like about their stays here, and helps us learn how to improve the offer even further. It’s essential reading for any small business!
The relaxed pace of life here is clearly an attraction for many:
‘The only thing that you run out of is time! (2014 is our 11th season)’ H & K
‘Loved sitting outside in the evening sun watching the world go by’ R & E
‘A real retreat from the world and a reminder of the value in simpler pleasures’ A & C
‘Super place to press PAUSE on the busy-ness of life’ A & M
Others relish the range of things to do:
‘Wonderful walks on the doorstep’ D & B
‘Cycling and walking paradise’ R & L
‘Amazing views’ M & R
‘Brilliant fun on the canal’ M & J
Narrowboat customers are discovering our cottages and vice versa. Some even combine them into one holiday:
‘First Buzzard, then Condor, now Wharfinger’s!! What next??... We love this place.’ S & C
‘What a wonderful week - 3 nights on Peregrine on the canal and 4 nights in Incline cottage’ A & R
And we especially like reading comments from our younger guests:
‘A very “grown up house”, a luxurious bath for when you’ve come off the mountain, the biggest Aga ever that bakes good tarts, and we saw an old locomotive arrive on a lorry to be renovated at Big Pit – amazing – made Joe’s day.’
There are plenty of comments (complete with hand-drawn paw prints) from happy dogs, including Archie, Jack, Murphy, Pickles, Rags, our four-legged ‘boys’, Holly the 14 year old collie and Dotty who ‘loved her walks along the canal’.
As expected, our resident peacock Humphrey is immensely proud that he gets a few mentions, too. See what other guests are saying on our regularly-updated page of testimonials.
