We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be unveiling a third luxury cottage at Llanfoist Wharf in time for Easter 2017, and it’s our most quirky to date.
Originally built as the dry dock for Beacon Park Boats (hence the name), it’s the building where all our boat maintenance took place, and obviously has direct access onto the canal. Since relocating our narrowboat business to our new wharf at Llangattock, the dry dock has sat empty.
After exploring various options, we think we’ve developed a clever way to transform this large space into an exciting cottage for a couple. Firstly, the front of the building will be folding, glass doors that open directly onto the canal. Secondly, we’ve created several different floor levels to ensure the fantastic views of the canal and the mountains beyond are visible from every room.
The side entrance door leads into an open-plan kitchen and dining room, with cosy wood-burning stove and handmade oak units. A few steps lead down to the snug cinema room with squishy sofa and home cinema system. At the front of the cottage, just inside the large bi-fold glass doors, is a seating area that’s slightly below the level of the canal for a truly unique view of the waterway! At the other end of the cottage, the elevated bedroom has a king-size bed, roll-top bath, wet room and the same magnificent views. And, as with all our other accommodation, it's dog-friendly!
At the rear of the cottage there’s parking for two cars, and an outdoor seating area with picnic table and chairs set on the wooded slopes, making the most of those far-reaching views.
Dry Dock Cottage is already available for bookings, which can be made via our narrowboat website. Choose 'book online' and scroll down the page - you'll see Dry Dock Cottage listed along with our other cottages, houseboats and narrowboats. Soon it’ll have its own web page, and we’ll be putting updates on social media over the coming months.
