A springtime Mon and Brec cruise in 20 photos

Spring is a tranquil time on the Mon & Brec, as the canal starts to wake up after winter. The first narrowboat holidaymakers are usually on the water before Easter. With the trees not fully in leaf, the views from the tree-lined canal are vast. There might even be the remains of the winter snow on the top of Pen y Fan (the highest mountain in southern Britain). Some canalside pubs still have real fires on the chillier days. Ducks and ducklings weave up and down the water. Dog walkers on the towpath say 'good morning'. There's a wonderful calmness along the length of the canal. Life is good.
