Beacon Park Boats have
been graded as 5-star, scored a perfect 100% and designated as a Quality
Accredited Boatyard in the recent assessment by the British Marine Federation.
We are the first narrowboat company on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal to participate in the British Marine Federation’s new two-part grading scheme, and are delighted to have achieved the highest of grades! This grading scheme sets new guidelines for canal boat quality and cleanliness, and for the first time incorporates the customers’ experience – from the initial welcome, through to the handover procedure and the support offered while on board.
Quality Accredited Boatyard (QAB): This first part of the new grading scheme looks at the systems and procedures that operators carry out in running a hire boat or fleet of boats, including an audit of the handover that is provided to customers hiring a boat. The QAB accreditation offers reassurances of safe and legal practices together with good customer services. Our next assessment will be in three years.
Boat Grading: The second part of the assessment was the annual grading of our boats which resulted in us retaining our 5 star rating, based on the quality and condition of the boats, and also the comfort and ease of use for the maximum number of occupants.
During his visit to our wharf, the assessment officer from the British Marine Federation, Mr Richard Chase, thoroughly inspected three canal boats, viewed a fourth boat and shadowed three sets of customers in order to assess the quality of service we deliver during a routine day.
At the end of the assessment we were delighted to achieve
the QAB status, receive the coveted 5 stars for our boats, and over the moon to
have scored an incredible 100% in all the assessment categories.
The British Marine Federation assessor concluded “The Quality Accredited Boatyard status has
been achieved. The assessment process was straightforward thanks to the operation
being well run and managed.”
“It is very difficult to find any fault with either the fit out of the boats or how they are presented which is why they achieve 100% scores. All of the boats were immaculately presented. They were all spotlessly clean and there was no damage to any floor coverings. Externally it is very difficult to date the boats as all paintwork is in good order. The team at Beacon Park Boats takes great pride in their fleet. They try and keep the paintwork in top order touching up any scratches during turn around days when the weather permits. The fleets of boats are all bespoke and individual in design and are all fitted out to an impressive standard. The fixtures and fittings are all top quality. The linen and bedding are of very high quality and there are nice added touches to the toiletries such as cotton wool buds and pads. The company has a new boat in build and is following a successful formula of using customers’ comments to help influence the design of new craft.”
