3 of our favourite Music Festivals

We have quite a range of musical tastes amongst our team and are fortunate that there’s always something musical going on locally, not least world-class festivals. Here are our top three to go to during the summer holidays:

Monmouth Festival  25 July-2 August 2014

Believe it or not, this festival in the border town of Monmouth is nine days longs and is absolutely FREE. Everyone’s catered for – there’s rock, classical, pop, folk, jazz, ska, punk and world music. Some concerts are indoors, some take place in the central square of this genteel town. It’s all just a short drive from the Brecon Beacons.

Brecon Jazz  7-10 August 2014

Happy 30th Birthday Brecon Jazz – it looks like it’ll be better than ever. Legendary artist Burt Bacharach’s opening concert launches the festival. We’re also keen to hear Huw Warren’s jazz suite Do Not Go Gentle, specially commissioned for the Dylan Thomas centenary year.

Green Man  14-17 August 2014

In a picture-postcard setting just outside Crickhowell, this festival has so much more than just music. This year we think our highlights are going to be Josh Widdicombe, No Fit State Circus and National Theatre Wales. And we’re eager to find out which new band will win the Green Man Rising final in London on 23rd July. The winner gets the gig of a lifetime opening the Mountain Stage at Green Man 2014.
